Programme Highlights/Enrichment Activities
P3 Swim Safer Program
The school adopts the MCCY SwimSafer Program. Swimming lessons are rotated among the P3 classes and carried out over 6 weeks at the nearby Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex under the supervision of well-trained swimming instructors. Pupils who complete the program will be awarded certificates and badges.
P4 Adventure Camp
The P4 Adventure camp has been conducted annually since 2009 as part of the PE program. The objective of this 3-day 2-night camp is to inculcate resilience, leadership and independence through the outdoors. The activities conducted by experienced instructors are designed to build self-esteem and foster esprit de corp among the students.
Health Week @UPS
In line with our efforts to build awareness in our pupils and engage our stakeholders in leading an active and healthy lifestyle, we have been organizing Health Week@UPS since 2013. The Singapore Heart Foundation Blood Pressure Educational Programme forms part of the activities planned for the students. The Health Week is also a platform to allow our Student Health Ambassadors to showcase their projects! Parents are invited into the school to join in the activities and to patronize the Health Bazaar.
Olympic Week @UPS
For one week, various Olympic-themed activities are organised by the school including during class and PE lessons. There are library, recess activities and the assembly program on the last day of the week. Our inaugural Olympic Week@UPS in 2013 saw the Singapore Olympic legend Mr C Kunalan gracing our event to give a talk on Olympism. The week-long celebration is also in collaboration with the CCE department’s Kindness Week
Games Day is an annual sporting event in the school’s calendar. This is when the four Houses namely, Red Lions, Green Hornets, Blue Dragons and Yellow Phoenix compete with one another in a friendly spirit of competition in exciting non-traditional games. In addition, the Houses also compete for Best House Cheer, Best Unity Cheer and Best Mascot.
Students will be assessed in the physical, cognitive and affective domains.
- P1 to P3 – Fundamental Movement Skills Manipulative Skills, Dance and PE Conduct.
- P4 to P6 – Sports Skills, Games Concept Skills, NAPFA Test(except P5) and PE Conduct.
