Primary 5
DNA Learning Lab
During their visit to the DNA Learning Lab at the Singapore Science Centre, students take on the role of young scientists, diving into the microscopic world of cells and DNA. This journey is a powerful extension of their Science curriculum, turning theory into hands-on practice.
With the guidance of experienced facilitators, students:
· Prepare and examine their own cheek cell samples under a microscope
· Observe the structure of plant, yeast, and bacteria cells
· Learn how scientists work in research labs and use tools to study the building blocks of life
This authentic learning experience inspires curiosity and builds foundational skills for scientific thinking and inquiry.
Marina Barrage
At Marina Barrage, Primary 5 students learn firsthand how sustainability efforts play a vital role in Singapore’s future. Through engaging exhibits and guided tours, they explore important topics such as climate change, water management, clean energy, and waste reduction.
Students are introduced to the three functions of Marina Barrage—flood control, water storage, and recreational use—and observe how the crest gates help prevent flooding. They also tour the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, which highlights Singapore’s journey towards a greener future.
A highlight for many students is the Augmented Reality (AR) experience, where marine life and coral ecosystems come alive before their eyes—an inspiring and immersive way to connect with environmental themes.
Indian Heritage Centre
Our students take a cultural deep dive at the Indian Heritage Centre, located in the heart of Little India. This learning journey brings to life the rich history and vibrant traditions of the Indian community in Singapore.
Through interactive exhibits and guided gallery tours, students learn about early Indian immigrants, and how their food, businesses, architecture, performing arts, and customs have helped shape Singapore’s multicultural identity.
This immersive experience gives students a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s diversity and reinforces the importance of understanding and respecting different cultures.
National Education (NE) Show
Each year, students attend the National Education Show, a preview of the National Day Parade. Held at the Padang, the NE Show is a key part of the National Education experience, aimed at instilling pride, patriotism, and understanding of Singapore’s journey as a nation.
Donned in red T-shirts, our students join in the vibrant celebrations, experiencing Total Defence in action, watching performances, and bonding with peers as they witness the celebrations which culminate in a spectacle of fireworks lighting up the night sky.
This memorable event deepens students' appreciation for Singapore’s resilience and unity, reinforcing the values of unity, resilience, and the collective spirit of our nation.
